Biography
Bina Dagar is an independent arbitrator and mediator and is serving on several panels including ARIAS U.S., ARIAS U.K., the International Center for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CPR) and the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators (NJAPM). Ms. Dagar has an extensive background in providing creative solutions to insurance/ reinsurance clients to achieve competencies, minimize/mitigate losses, and enhance profit. During her more than 25 years of experience in the insurance/reinsurance industry, Ms. Dagar has developed a broad range of business capabilities. She has overseen the successful resolution of company management/operational issues, especially relating to claims matters; audited MGA's for adherence to claims and underwriting, operational and functional guidelines as well as for compliance with agreed terms and conditions; and successfully resolved outstanding balances on runoff matters. Ms. Dagar has held positions with Munich Re, CIGNA, SCOR Re and Everest Re. As a senior underwriter, she has handled a varied book of business ranging from multi-line to straight property and casualty lines, all with responsibility to enhance the division's overall returns. During that time, she maintained responsibility for underwriting/pricing and auditing complex books of business ranging from main-street casualty to professional liability, products recall and political risk. Additionally, Ms. Dagar has designed and priced reinsurance structures for worldwide operations.
Ms. Dagar currently sits on the board of the Association of Professional Insurance Women (APIW); she serves on the Publication Committee of the Association of Insurance & Reinsurance Runoff Companies (AIRROC), on the Ethics and International Committees of ARIAS-U.S. Ms. Dagar has authored articles and speaks at industry conferences on the subjects of reinsurance and arbitration.
