Course Description

The webinar will provide an overview of what opioids are, current statistics regarding use, overdose, addiction, costs, etc., how the current epidemic came about and why it’s so far-reaching, current legislative actions attempting to curb the use/sale of opioids, the claims and relief sought by governments in lawsuits against “Big Pharma” and specifically the Multi-District Litigation pending in Ohio, and an analysis of insurance coverage case law in the CGL space, as well as issues relating to other lines of business (D&O, Professional Liability, and Workers’ Compensation). Some reinsurance issues will be briefly discussed.

Meet the Panel

Amy Kallal
Partner, Mound Cotton

Amy J. Kallal is a partner at Mound Cotton and has over twenty years of experience in all aspects of complex reinsurance litigation and arbitration as well as third-party direct insurance coverage disputes. She has successfully arbitrated dozens of cases to final award and has also litigated cases in numerous state and federal courts.

 

 

Marcy Oren
Head of Casualty and Workers Compensation Reinsurance Claims, AXA XL

Marcy is a manager in AXA XL’s reinsurance claim department. Marcy has extensive experience managing complex reinsurance claims in nearly all lines of business.  Prior to AXA XL, she worked at the New York law firm of Mendes & Mount representing London reinsurers and in the Hong Kong office of Marsh as a placing and claims broker for all financial and professional lines.  Marcy received a BSBA from Washington University in St. Louis and a law degree from Fordham Law School.
