Biography
Jay Deiner has served in the insurance and reinsurance industry for over 40 years and currently serves as Executive Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel of Ormond Insurance and Reinsurance Management Services, Inc. and its parent company, Ormond Re Group, Inc. Ormond is an International Reinsurance Underwriting Management and Consulting firm. Ormond either currently or previously has held underwriting authority for companies such as Employers Mutual Casualty Company, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, Country Mutual Insurance Company, Marlborough Syndicate at Lloyds, Hiscox Syndicate 33 at Lloyds, Michigan Mutual and others.
Jay is a licensed attorney in Florida and a member in good standing of the Florida, Volusia County and American Bar Associations. In addition, Jay is a licensed Managing General Agent in Florida and is licensed as a Reinsurance Intermediary Manager in the states of Florida, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Iowa. He also has been actively involved in providing services to various State Insurance Departments, Receivers and Guaranty Associations and has earned the designation of Accredited Insurance Receiver from the International Association of Insurance Receivers. He is Past President of the International Association of Claim Professionals (f/k/a Excess Surplus Lines Claim Association), Past President of the Southeastern Claim Executives Association and an active member and past chair of several Substantive Law Sections of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC).
Jay has received the designations of Certified Arbitrator and Certified Umpire from ARIAS US and has served as both Arbitrator and Umpire in numerous insurance and reinsurance disputes. In addition, Jay has taken on engagements as an expert witness in matters involving insurance and reinsurance contract interpretation, allocation of loss, duties between primary and excess carriers and MGA duties and responsibilities.
