    I am an actuary by training. My entire working career was at Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (formerly North American Life & Casualty). I retired as President in 1999 and was responsible for all Individual Life, Accident, Health and Group Life insurance including the reinsurance and retrocessions of that business. I was also responsible for all Variable Life and Annuity operations for 3 years. All of these responsibilities included underwriting, sales, claims, administration, actuarial and accounting functions.
    I served as Chair and CEO of Preferred Life Insurance Company of New York, a wholly owned subsidiary marketing variable annuity and group insurance programs, Chair of North American London Underwriters that provided $75 million of corporate capital to Lloyds and Chair of Ultralink that provided nationwide network services for health programs, including Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) offered to multi-state employers.
    I served on the Board of Directors for Health Insurance Association of America (HIAA) for several years as well as a member of the Executive Committee, Secretary and Chair of the Membership and Ethical Standards Committee. I served as Chair of the Nontraditional Marketing section of the Society of Actuaries and as Chair of the Twin Cities Actuarial Club. I served on committees of various industry organizations - Group Insurance Committee for ACLI, Group Committee and Group Officers Round Table Committee for HIAA.

    I have served as an expert witness is over a dozen disputes involving insurance or reinsurance.
